"Sure I can do that for you"

I have now volunteered myself to produce training videos for my company. Sure, it doesn’t sound that bad. But I already dedicate enough of my time to work, and I’ve fallen way behind on the projects I want to do for myself. Sure I could back out, but I just don’t feel right about that. We start filming Thursday - wish me luck, and a speedy finish

Friday night was the absinthe party in the city with Johanna and Radar. The beverages were tasty I tell ya. I found it interesting how the quality varied wildy, including this yummy almond concoction that we all agreed was not absinthe at all. The highlight of the event for me was the atmosphere. The establishment was very nice, with different rooms decorated in different styles. I like that fact that they had artwork on the walls depicting artists from the past who were known absinth drinkers. Oh and the uv light room was nice. There was a dress code and they adhered to it. I’ve been describing the event as elegant, sophisticated and civilized. It was almost like a modern day speakeasy. I would definitely do it again.

Saturday was Devons Renaissance game with Dave, Chad, Khaos and Erik. My fella lasted the first round of combat, so I was happy. But seriously, I had a good time. Devon ran a damn fine game, and for still being kind of rusty, I think I did okay. I’m sure if you ask some of the other guys they might disagree.

Sunday was a busy ass day at work, which made the time fly by. I did call my mom and talked to her for a while. That was nice. I however forgot to call my Sis. I feel horrible, but it slipped my mind. This is her first Mothers Day and I...I mean..well gosh she’s a mother isn’t she. I’m calling her as soon as I’m done here.

Yesterday was my last day off for the next ten days, so I got a lot accomplished at the house...had too.

Tomorrow: work, pub, sleep

Here is my choice for the new James T. Kirk. Ryan Reynolds. There will be more of these in the future. I am quietly freaking out about this movie!

The rumors of the death of Star Trek have been greatly exaggerated. For months now it seemed touch and go, the doctors did all they could but the prognosis seemed grim. But today Star Trek walked out of intensive care under it’s own power. J.J. Abrams is the man in charge now, and Berman is out of the picture. Paramount is aiming for a 2008 release for the next feature film. The story will be a prequel to the original series. We will most likely see Kirk and Spock meet for the first time, and see the first of their many adventures together.

Let the casting speculations begin

Kirk - Ryan Reynolds
Spock - Adrien Brody
McCoy - David Boreanaz

If any of the supporting characters are around

Scotty - Jamie Bamber
Sulu - Linda Park
Uhura - Gabrielle Union
Chekhov - Giovanni Ribisi

My Sister had her baby!!!!!!!!! Liam Nicholas Meriel. Both Baby and Mother are doing well. I’ll be going to see them on the 14th. When I was younger, there was this older relative that I knew of as Sa-mic-alou. He was one of my dads great uncles or something. Come to find out later that Sa-mic-alou really meant uncle Dominick. It was a shorting of the word uncle “Zio” and the name Dominick “Domenico”, Za - menico . Remember we’re Sicilian and our pronunciation is a little ...“rustic”. Call me old school, but I can’t wait for the little fella to call me Sa-mic-alou.

I’ve been re-working the end of one of my scripts in my head. I think it works a lot better than what I have written. I was wondering if britgeekgirl or shannybug could meet up before trivia on Wednesday to talk about it?

BTW how do I do that cool thing that links your username to your journal??

Okay, the sword I sold on ebay was returned to me by UPS. They say it’s a weapon and they won’t deliver it. So I took it back to the STAPLES that I sent it from, to see if I could at least get my money back. NO. I have to call the STAPLES/UPS claim center. The claim center won’t do anything, because they consider it a weapon. For the sake of urging, sure it’s a sword...and by default a weapon. But come on! It hangs up on a wall, and maybe once every year will be used as costume piece. I think the bottom line is that the UPS person at the STAPLES helped me pack it. They knew what it was. The info sheet at the STAPLES didn’t note a sword as a weapon, and we looked. I spent a half of an hour debating the semantics of the swords uses with several different people at the claim center. One person asked me if, “it had a sheath.” “Yes, but what does it matter,” I responded. I got a hold please for that one. So I had to go back to the STABLES and they finally gave me my money back.

The post office had no problem sending it. They just didn’t know how to deal with it. I think I was there for about twenty minutes while they looked up how to send it and filled out the correct paperwork...and the line grew...and I was hated by all

Is anyone interested in going to Pickwicks Friday night for karaoke? If you haven’t been there for this event before, it can be a lot of fun.

BTW I’m sure I owe someone for my beer and Celtic rolls. Who is it...fess up

I starting tooling around with my Adobe Premiere, and, oh my. It’s so much more powerful than what I was using. Don’t get me wrong I loved my old software, but this just runs circles around it. I can’t wait to start a project so I can do some editing. For those of you that don’t know, I love to edit. I have settled on two different projects for the short film competition that’s coming up. You may hear some shout outs for assistance in one form or another

The band of the day - “Kaiser Chiefs” A new band out of London, they are heavily influenced bu the new wave scene from the early 80's.

You Are a Dreaming Soul

Your vivid emotions and imagination takes you away from this world
So much so that you tend to live in your head most of the time
You have great dreams and ambitions that could be the envy of all...
But for you, following through with your dreams is a bit difficult

You are charming, endearing, and people tend to love you.
Forgiving and tolerant, you see the world through rose colored glasses.
Underneath it all, you have a ton of passion that you hide from others.
Always hopeful, you tend to expect positive outcomes in your life.

Souls you are most compatible with: Newborn Soul, Prophet Soul, and Traveler Soul

Not a lot to report. The work week was fine. I still haven’t finalized what I’m going to do about the film competition. I’ve solidified a few of ideas for new projects, so that’s good. At least I’ll have something to work with. I need to make some final decisions about it this weekend

My New Years resolutions are still holding strong. I know it’s still January. Oh my, that reminds me. I made a huge ass of myself at work today. One of my guys was going on his cigarette brake. He knows that I’ve quite, but still jokingly asks me if I want one. On his way out, I jokingly asked him for one. Out of the blue, some customer handed me one. I was so embarrassed trying to explain that I was just joking. I eventually took it and joined my friend. So I suppose my resolutions aren’t completely intact.

The band of the day: “The Beatles” enough said

Well some of my stuff sold on e-bay. I am very happy about that. I had a productive weekend, cleaning and writing and stuff. Although I almost killed my computer. I was messing around with the desktop themes, and downloaded one that turned almost everything black. I couldn’t really navigate around enough to fix it. I finally did fixed it, but I was freaken’ out man

My sisters baby is due next month. She’s having a boy. I need to make time to go and see her and the child after he’s born

I’m toying around with some ideas for the short film competition, but haven’t come up with anything rock solid yet

The band of the day: “The Nervous Breakdowns” The Nervous Breakdowns are a local San Francisco band. The band’s bizarre history of street gigging and off-the-wall musical influences creates a sound all their own; some call their music “rock” or “punkish” “late eighties to mid nineties influenced indie rock” or “noise-pollution.” Their music is raw emotion that’s fun, poppy, hip-hoppy, rocky, yet serious, laughable, danceable, and most of all riddled with pop infectiousness.

So here’s the situation. Alice Radio is having a three to five minute film competition. The dead line is sometime in March. Last time they had this competition I submitted what I call “a fake trailer.” It was snippets of scenes set to some music to seem like a commercial. Well obviously nothing happened with that. After the project though I made a DVD of the project with bonus features and a Directors Commentary. So my two options here are, submit the Directors Commentary (It’s funnier than the actual project), or try filming something new.

Band of the day: “Louie Prima and his Orchestra” Louie Prima was a trend setter in the music industry from the early 1930's through the 1950's. His orchestra popularized the swing and big band sounds of the 1940's. Louie wrote the songs “sing, sing, sing,” “jump, jive, and wail,” “Just a gigolo,” and plenty others.

Todays entery is a collection of the random.

The work day was long - 11 hours!!

Sent an e-mail off to a small production company about one of my scripts...we'll see

My e-bay items are not flying off the self. One of the swords has passed the minimum bid. The other stuff is just sitting there.

Band of the day: “The Trashcan Sinantras”. Trashcan Sinatras are a Scottish band who began in 1987. They are still together and playing live regularly. They have a nice crisp sound and poetic lyrics

I put my first items up on ebay today. I'm selling some old broadswords and a sony notebook computer. I'm excited. I’m sure these items aren’t going to net me much. You never know though, I might get 1 MILLION...DOLLARS. It’s more the fact that finally, after months of saying I’m going to it, I finally did.

My first entry. Not really a lot to say actually. My New Years resolutions are going along strong. I’m going to do some cleaning up around the house today. I know that sounds freakin’ exiting. I’m going to do some rewrites on one of my scripts later. I met a professional movie reviewer last night. She was a very nice person. I work across the street from the Castro st. theater, and there’s a film festival going on right now. Well we talked for a while about movies, and past jobs and things. I was going to ask her if she new people that could help me out, but it got too busy and she left. She did make a point of saying “good by” and that she’d be back.
